Police suspect in fake coin scheme

A former senior criminal investigation official with the Yingcheng Public
Security Bureau of Hubei Province has been arrested on suspicion of making and
trafficking in counterfeit money, reports Chutian Daily.
Last Friday, the 53-year-old Fan, former leader of the Yingcheng Criminal
Investigation Team, was detained at a port checkpoint for possessing 10,000
counterfeit coins with a face value of 1 yuan (12 US cents) each.
Police officers searched his home where they found a small counterfeit coin
minting operation covering more than 100 square metres and other potentially
incriminating evidence. Police are continuing their
investigation.
