Guangzhou Eastern Railway Station has started broadcasting "25 common scams" over its public-address (PA) system to caution travellers about con artists operating in and around the station, reports Guangzhou Daily.

Scams include:

Requests to compare tickets, in which real tickets are swapped for fake ones;

Claims of delays or changed departure platforms with offers to go to another place together;

Suggestions to share someone else's "dropped" valuables;

'Bargain' deals on tickets or hotels.

Travellers are also warned against trusting individuals in uniform - "soldiers" and "railway personnel" may be impersonators.
