Man steals 4 cars with 3 IDs
( 2003-10-22 14:15) (China Daily)

A man who swindled two car rental firms out of four sedans by using three different ID cards has been formally charged by the People's Procuratorate of the Dongcheng District, reports Beijing Star Daily.

Li Feng (not his real name) changed his name twice because his mother believed a good name could bring him good luck. Each time he got new ID and residency cards he didn't hand back the old ones.

Last July, Li rented a car in Beijing with his old, invalid ID card as the new one had not yet been issued.

When the rental firm urged him to return the car and pay the 1,000 yuan (US$120) he owed at the end of the leasing term, Li pawned the car in Tianjin for 30,000 yuan (US$3,625).

Li then stole three more cars using the same trick.
