Prisoners teach officials a good lesson

A special programme, in which
six former government officials now serving prison sentences had lectured 1,000
in-service officials all over the province, was recently presented in East
China's Anhui Province, reports Procuratorate Daily.
It was hoped that the listening officials would learn from the six prisoners'
mistakes.
One of the lecturers, Fu, a 60-year-old former head of the Fiscal Department
of a district government, felt she had not been adequately appreciated when her
contributions to local economic development earned her only a small return.
She was sentenced to life imprisonment for graft involving 500,000 yuan
(US$60,400), misappropriation of 300,000 yuan (US$36,245) in public funds and
accepting bribes worth 10,000 yuan (US$1,200).
