Winning bidders adopt ancient trees

An auction to temporarily adopt 50 ancient trees held in the city on Tuesday
drew 49 winning bids, Shanghai Evening Post reports.
Most of the bidders were from the real estate sector. Shanghai Greenland
Group won sponsorship of 37 ancient trees, each of which will bear their name
from one to three years at a cost of 935,000 yuan (US$112,650).
According to the city's landscaping authority, all of the money raised in the
auction will go towards the protection and maintenance of these ancient
trees.
