Domestic breweries keen on lady's liquor market
( 2003-10-24 09:20) (eastday.com)

Chinese breweries began to focus on lady's liquor market, which is believed to be a new cash cow for them, eastday.com reported yesterday.

Lady's liquor, with delicate packaging, dubbed as in good nutrition for both skin and body, became a new spotlight at the 2003 Candy & Liquor Fair in Shenyang this autumn.

Many companies were keen on promoting their liquors for ladies at the fair, such as lady's beer, lady's wine and special white spirit for ladies.

Lady's liquor market has won popularity from female consumers at the fair. "I usually feel exhausted at work, and drinking a little wine can relax myself, but it is not easy for me to find suitable liquors," said a lady attending the fair, surnamed Huang.

Chinese young people are inclined to seek personalized ways of living nowadays thanks to the improving living standard. A growing number of females drink liquors, with the number of females frequently drinking liquors growing by 22 percent every year over the past three years.

The liquor market for females has a great potential, with no renowned brands to date, so it is the right time for small and mid-sized breweries to enter the market, said an industry analyst.

Females' demand have been ignored at domestic liquor market for a long time, and the fiercer market competition and people's changes in ideas will bring more varieties to the liquor market specifically for ladies, the analyst said.
