The provincial congress has asked the public to evaluate a senior official through its official website (scpc.gov.cn), reports Guangzhou Daily.

The Provincial People's Congress will utilize email for the first time to solicit public opinion in the annual evaluation of officials' and government departments' performances.

The official selected for evaluation this year is Xie Yuexin, director of the Provincial Agricultural Bureau, while the department under scrutiny is the Provincial Safe Production Supervision Bureau.

Members of the public are being asked to email (xjw@rd.gd.cn) or post letters to the congress before October 31.

Congress deputies formerly collected people's views through field trips organized by the government.
