A 260-metre-long wall in the Chaoyang District has been decorated with cartoons in the fight against illegal ad postings, reports Beijing Youth Daily.

The wall, at the southeast corner of the Beiyuan Bridge, was previously covered by illegally posted ads, according to the district's civil administrative office.

In order to disguise the marks left by the ads and to make the city more attractive, the office invited some 20 artists to paint the wall.

The tactic is aimed at encouraging citizens to protect their living environment as well as observe social mores, the report says.
