Owner kills money-eating dog
( 2003-10-28 17:14) (China Daily)

Sun Xiaoshan, a mason in Hubei Province, killed his dog in order to remove 25 chewed up 100-yuan (US$12) notes the animal had eaten, reports Beijing Morning Post.

Sun, who lives in Bianzhou Village, Honghu City, was paid 2,950 yuan (US$356) in cash for helping another villager build a house last Wednesday.

When Sun and his wife went out to work the next day, they wrapped up the money, placed it under a glass plate and tied their one-year-old house dog near it, in case anyone should break into their home.

But they never imagined the dog would eat the money.

When the couple returned home, only four of 29 100-yuan notes and one 50-yuan (US$6) note were left untouched.

The angry Sun killed his dog and retrieved the bits of eaten notes from its body. He and his wife were able to piece together 14 notes.
