Man jailed for 'freeing' parents ( 2003-10-29 17:20) (China Daily)
A man who forcibly removed his criminal-suspect parents from police custody
with the help of 10 other men has been sentenced to a six-year jail term by the
Foshan Intermediate People's Court, reports Guangzhou Daily.
The parents of Zheng, a Foshan resident, were arrested in Nanjing, Jiangsu
Province and escorted back to Guangzhou in September 2001.
With the promise of a reward for their efforts, Zheng recruited 10 men to set
his parents free.
Wearing soldiers' uniforms, they blocked the train car in which his parents
and the police escort were riding before overpowering the officers and escaping
with Zheng's parents.
All but two of Zheng's gang were captured afterwards.
