Three per cent of college students suffer from enuresis, more commonly known as bed-wetting, according to an enuresis symposium that closed on Monday, Shanghai Morning Post reports.

The figure, which is double that of five years ago, was revealed in a sampling survey issued at the symposium.

The survey, conducted at five universities in the city, found that about 93 per cent of those interviewed did not consider bed-wetting a disease requiring medical treatment, while 95 per cent said enuresis was nothing to worry about.

Xu Hong, who works at the enuresis treatment centre for a paediatric hospital, said bed-wetting among college students was mainly the result of heavy study and job-seeking pressures.

Sufferers should seek treatment as early as possible, according to doctors.
