To guarantee that Beijingers get enough cabbage to eat this year, the municipal government has granted special permits to vehicles transporting the popular winter vegetable in from other provinces, reports Beijing Times.

Trucks possessing such passports will receive priority at inspection stops along the roads and the usual transport fee will be waived.

Urbanization has led to a decline in cabbage output in Beijing, but residents' tastes have not changed.
