French wholesaler Carrefour's Quyang Store, which has been offering 500 free breakfasts daily, may have inadvertently insulted its Chinese patrons, Oriental Morning Post reports.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the store has been handing out 500 free breakfasts every morning at 8:30, drawing queues stretching for more than 100 metres in front of the store.

But some locals were offended when salespeople from the store recorded the scene on film.

A source with the store replied that the filming tapes would not be released for any other reason.
