Heavy fog causes series of accidents

Several accidents occurred on
the Beijing-Shenyang Expressway on Saturday morning due to heavy fog. Four
people died, seven automobiles were damaged and the expressway was temporarily
closed, reports Beijing Star Daily.
The first accident took place at 8:40 am when two trucks collided. The driver
of one of the trucks was killed in a fire that enveloped his vehicle.
In the view-obscuring fog, another truck crashed into the burning vehicle and
three more wrecked into each other one by one. A jeep that was unable to brake
in time hit a truck, killing three people in the jeep.
Emergency crews worked for several hours to help the victims and clear the
wreckage, closing down the Beijing-Shenyang Expressway for the entire
morning.
