12m-yuan suit over 'treachery' in ad ( 2003-12-05 17:27) (China Daily) A pharmaceutical company has
lodged a 12.84 million-yuan (US$1.55 million) lawsuit against an Internet
service company for a mistake in a web-page advertisement, reports Southern
Metro News.
Part of the slogan promoting Rendentang, a traditional Chinese medicine
company, was supposed to read "benevolence at heart", but it appeared on the web
page of the China Enterprise Network as "treachery at heart".
Rendentang protested on September 27, but the mistake was not corrected for
three days.
The advertisement had seriously tarnished the company's image, argued
Rendentang.
The China Enterprise Network, while acknowledging the error, said the
compensation asked was much too high.
The case has been accepted by the Shenzhen Intermediate People's
Court.
