A 14-year-old boy from Pinghe County in Zhangzhou who fell into a coma for more than a month after being stung by a wasp has regained consciousness, reports Strait Metropolis News.

Zhang Bingxin was helping his father in their field on July 22 when he was stung on the left leg.

Ten minutes later, Zhang passed out. His father rushed him to the local county hospital, which was unable to treat the sting.

Zhang was transferred to the No 175 Hospital on July 25. He regained consciousness after more than 30 days in a coma.

However, Zhang has difficulty moving his left arm and leg, nor can he speak clearly.

He will remain in hospital for further treatment.
