A mother who killed her newborn daughter by throwing her from a toilet on board a fast-moving train was sentenced to 10 years in jail in Guangzhou on Tuesday, reports Southern Metropolis News.

Yang Huiping, 28, who had given birth to a son four years earlier, said she killed her infant daughter because she was afraid of being fined for violating the family planning policy.

Yang, who comes from a farmer's family in Hunan Province, followed her husband to find work in Guangdong.

She returned home by train when she was nine months pregnant in August.

But she went into labour and delivered the child in a bathroom on the train during the journey
