Court: Man should bear economic losses ( 2003-12-17 17:18) (China Daily)
Guangzhou Baiyun District People's Court on Monday threw out a lawsuit filed
by a local resident who put cash into his envelope to mail but the money was
lost, reports New Express News.
The resident surnamed Wei asked for compensation valued at 5,264 yuan
(US$634.22), equal to the amount he had put into the envelope.
The court said Wei had violated relevant postal regulations after he put the
money into the envelope and he had to bear the economic loss.
In July, Wei put foreign currencies valued at more than US$634 in an envelope
and mailed them to a Taiwan investor.
He told postal staff the envelope that had been sealed contained only air
tickets. Wei filed a lawsuit against the postal office and asked for
compensation after he failed to reach an agreement on compensation last
month.
