Tiny water pipe eyes world record ( 2003-12-18 17:17) (China Daily)
Shanghai branch of Guinness Book of Records has approved the application from
an antique collector in Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong Province, who
applied to put his tiny water pipe into the Guinness Book of World Records,
Shenzhen Evening News reports.
The traditional smoking set is only half the size of a one-dollar (renminbi)
coin with a height of 28.23 millimetres, a length of 14.30 millimetres and a
thickness of 5.35 millimetres.
The tiny water pipe consists of small parts including water container, pipe
bowl, tobacco container and a thin iron chain with elegant design on the surface
of the water container.
More surprisingly, the hollow smoking pipe is so thin that only a piece of
hair can go through it.
According to the owner of the water pipe, surnamed Jiang, the antique has
been identified by local antique appraisal authorities as a product of the Qing
Dynasty (1644-1911).
