The Finnish telecommunications equipment maker Nokia said it had won a 125-million-dollar (100-million-euro) contract to extend a second generation telephone network in China.

The deal was signed Friday with the Chinese group Henan MCC, which operates in the central province of Henan.

Nokia said it was the major supplier to the Chinese market for mobile telephone systems and high-speed Internet access.

The group has more than 60 outlets and two research and development centers in China, where it employs more than 4,500 people.
