An elderly farmer died after he was bitten by a poisonous snake he caught four months ago in the city of Heyuan in northern Guangdong Province on Monday, reports New Express News.

Li, 63, captured the snake in his farm in August and put it into a wine jug to make a tonic wine.

But when he wanted to drink some wine to keep him warm, Li was bitten by the snake which was still alive in the jug which was not airtight.
