Court upholds razing of ancestral tombs ( 2004-01-08 14:09) (China Daily)
The Foshan Intermediate People's Court on Tuesday threw out a lawsuit jointly
filed by 19 villagers against the administrative committee of a local township
industrial development zone in the city's Gaoming District, reports Information
Times.
The plaintiffs"ancestral tombs were bulldozed for development of industrial
projects; and they asked for compensation of 250,000 yuan (US$30,000) for the
emotional trauma.
The court said the villagers had no right to complain because they refused to
move the tombs within a specified period.
