Two horses in love tried to elope from a stable in a village at the foot of Tianping Mountain in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province "but an enterprising policeman played spoilsport, reports Jinling Evening Post.

The policeman who came across the "couple'' took them to a nearby horse farm "and managed to arrange television coverage of the equines to seek the owner, who promptly turned up and took them home on Tuesday.

The affectionate couple will be in separate stables as punishment.
