Israeli troops kill two Palestinian militants-Army
( 2003-10-22 16:10) (Agencies)

Israeli troops killed two Palestinian militants in separate West Bank raids on Wednesday, the army said.

An Israeli military spokesman said soldiers shot dead a "wanted terrorist" in the West Bank city of Hebron and another in the town of Qalqilya overnight after they tried to flee to avoid arrest.

The military spokesman said the two bodies had not yet been handed over to Palestinian medical officials. Further details on the men's identities were not immediately available.

Israel Radio described one of the dead as a leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, one of several militant groups waging a three-year-old uprising for independence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
