China and Mozambique agreed to expand cooperation in agriculture, fishery and energy resources in Beijing Friday.

During the second meeting of the two countries' joint economic and trade committee, Chinese Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai said China treasures the friendship with Mozambique. Since the first meeting of the committee, bilateral economic cooperation has developed steadily.

The volume of bilateral trade between the two countries last year reached US$70 million and the investment of Chinese enterprises in Mozambique also increased, said Bo.

He said the Chinese government is willing to cooperate with Mozambique in agriculture, fishery, energy resources and personnel training and it also encourages the Chinese enterprises to increase investment in Mozambique.

Mozambique Minister of Industry and Trade Carlos Alberto Sampaio Morgado said Mozambique thanks China for its long-term assistance and Mozambique is satisfied with bilateral cooperation.

Mozambique enjoys a traditional friendship with China and bilateral cooperation has been developing soundly, he said, adding that Mozambique welcomes China's investment.
