Chinese woman sprinter Li Xuemei left Chengdu Sunday to compete in the IAAF Grand Prix slated on May 8 in Osaka, Japan, her first time in international meets after an absence of two years due to injuries. Coach Zhang Rongwei explained that Li hopes to run within 11.30 seconds in the women's 100 meters to qualify for the Athens Olympic Games, as well as to reach the top 16 in the women's 4x100m relay. Ten days ago, Li reached the Olympic B standard of 11.40 seconds in a domestic meet in Guilin, Guangxi province. "Li is expected to run faster and better as she is recovering from her injuries," said coach Zhang.
