A controversial goal by Zhu Yifan sent China through to the semi-finals of the AFC U-17 Championship at the expense of Oman on September 12, Sunday.

A tight quarter-final match at the Fujeida Stadium was settled by Zhu’s strike just two minutes into the second half.

Gu Jinjin broke down the left wing but appeared to run the ball over the goalline before crossing to Zhu, who bundled the ball over the line from point blank range for his first goal of the tournament.

The Omanis were unable to find a response as they bowed out of the competition.

China will face Iran in the semi-finals on Wednesday at the Kusanagi Stadium.
