Nets' Carter honoured as NBA player of the week
Vince Carter, a former all-star game slam dunk champion, was named the National Basketball Association's Eastern Conference player of the week.
The 28-year-old former Toronto Raptor averaged 25 points on 49 percent shooting, 7.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds in four games as the Nets went 3-1 to record their first winning West Coast trip since 1997-1998.
On Friday, Carter had 30 points and nine assists in a 109-103 triumph over the struggling Los Angeles Lakers.
He came back with 30 points, a season-high 10 assists and four blocks the next night in a 99-82 win over the Utah Jazz.
Carter, who was traded from Toronto on December 17, has averaged 23.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists in 19 games with the Nets.
Sacramento Kings centre Brad Miller, who averaged 24 points in four games, was named Western Conference player of the week.
Phoenix Suns Steve Nash was also a nominee in the Western Conference.
