Lin Dan makes semi-finals at All England Open
China's top seed Lin Dan rebounded from one game down to edge past South Korean Lee Hyun-il in the quarter-finals of the All England Open men's singles badminton championships in Birmingham on Friday. The 21-year-old shuttler lost the first game 15-10 but he turned the tables in the next two sets by winning 15-13 and 15-8 for a semi-final berth. Lin looks well set to retain his All England Open title given the exit of second-seeded Dane Peter Gade in a third round match on Thursday and the withdrawal of injured Olympic champion Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia. But Lin's compatriot Chen Hong, the 2002 All England champion, will be the biggest obstacle for Lin to retain his title. Chen booked his semi-final berth with a 13-15, 15-12, 15-4 victory over countryman Bao Chunlai.
