An explosion within a dustbin at the west square of Beijing railway station occurred suddenly at 1:40 p.m. Friday, but caused no casualty, according to sources with the Beijing municipal public security bureau Saturday.

A witness, who is a beverage salesman, said that the explosion occurred within the dustbin beside a flower terrace, where many passengers took rest.

The moment the "bang" sound from the dustbin out, passengers ran away with fears.

The cover of the dustbin was lifted by the explosion force, and the waste was sprinkled outside. Smell of combusted waste floated in the air.

Police found a clock and a lead at the explosion site. Passengers were not affected and the station order was as normal as usual.

Further investigation is under way.
