Gabriel Fernandez scored 16 points in 26 minutes to lead four Argentine players in double digits, Julio Mazzaro and Roman Gonzalez added 13 apiece.

"We played very well today and I am quite satisfied with the whole team," said Argentina head coach Sergio Hernandez.

Hernandez gave extra credit to point guard Daniel Farabello, who shot 4-for-5 from beyond the arch to finish with 12 points, three steals and two assists in just 19 minutes.

"Daniel did a good job today, he made our players into a team," Hernandez said.

The Australians were led by CJ Bruton's 21 points.

Lithuania held off Puerto Rico 82-73.

Trailing by 68-54 early in the fourth quarter, Puerto Rico staged a 12-0 run to cut its deficit to 68-66, only to see Cukinas Povilas have a dunk and a three-point play to lead a 7-2 run that lifted Lithuania up at 75-68. Pauliukenas Vaidas made one of two free throws with one minute and four seconds remaining to seal the victory for the Europeans.

The six teams are vying for the title in the round-robin format with the winner to clinch a prize of 100,000 US dollars.
