Earthquake jolts south Xinjiang (Xinhua) Updated: 2005-08-26 15:15 An earthquake measuring 5.2
on the Richter Scale jolts the county of Moyu, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur
Autonomous Region, at 5:08 a.m. Friday, but no casualty was reported.
According to sources with China Seismological Bureau, the epicenter is
located at 37.1 north latitude and 79.3 east longitude.
The county belongs to Hetian prefecture in southern Xinjiang.
Another tremor measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale was reported to hit Awat
County, approximately 300 km east to Moyu County, on
Thursday.
