A Dutch national was found dead in a Moscow hotel and the city prosecutor's office said Monday that it had opened an investigation into a fatal assault, the Associated Press reported.

The victim, identified as William de Lange, was found Saturday with numerous injuries, including to the head, said Sergei Marchenko, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office.

Investigators did not reveal possible motives or suspects in the killing, and no one could immediately be reached for comment at the Dutch Embassy in Moscow.
