Tracy McGrady scored 20 points and Yao Ming added 19, helping the Houston Rockets beat the Orlando Magic 84-80 on Wednesday night.
Steve Francis and Keyon Dooling led the Magic with 12 points apiece, each scoring five in the third quarter as Orlando fought back within two at 65-63 entering the final period.

Luther Head, the Rockets' first-round pick, hit a pair of three-pointers and Jon Barry scored five of his 12 points in the last quarter to help Houston win it. Head also finished with 12 points.

With McGrady scoring seven quick points, Houston outscored the Magic 15-6 in the first seven minutes of the second quarter to take a 34-29 lead. McGrady closed the half by hitting a three at the buzzer, and had 12 points in the period - and 17 for the half - as Houston led 45-40.

Orlando took a 23-19 lead after the first quarter by outrebounding Houston 11-5 and getting five points apiece from Francis and Dooling. The Rockets hit just 33 percent of their field goals in the period and only stayed in it by sinking shooting 9-of-10 from the foul line, including 4-of-4 by Yao.
