Hostages in Zhengzhou rescued

A hostage, injured in the explosion detonated by the hostage-taker, is carried out of a women's dormitory at a college and sent to hospital for treatment in Zhengzhou, Central China's Henan Province November 8, 2005. The hostage-taker, with explosives, managed to enter the dorm later Tuesday, man's access to which should have been denied, and took four girl students hostage. He demanded to see the police chief and for a ransom of one million yuan. At about 2:30am Wednesday after several hours of talks with the police, the man suddenly detonated the explosives in the room and killed himself. One of the hostages was injured. The man's motive is still unknown and police investigation is underway.[newsphoto]
