The following is a biographical sketch of Li Zhaozhuo, who was just elected vice-chairman of the 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC):

Li Zhaozhuo, male, born in 1944, native (Zhuang) of Pingguo, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

1968 graduate of Guangxi University, water conservancy and irrigation major; joined Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1974; holding the professional title of engineer.

Technician and deputy director of the Hydropower Bureau of Debao County, Guangxi, in 1975-1980; deputy director of the Capital Construction Bureau, and deputy director of the Planning Committee, of Debao County, in 1980-1983; director of Economic Committee in 1983-1984; secretary of the CPC Debao County Committee in 1984-1985; deputy secretary of CPC Baise Prefecture Committee, in 1985-1992; secretary of the CPC Baise Prefecture Committee, and commissioner of the Baise Prefecture in 1992-1993; secretary of the CPC Committee, and chairman of the Standing Committee of the people's congress, of Fangchenggang City, Guangxi,in 1993-1995; secretary of the CPC Nanning City Committee, Guangxi,and deputy secretary of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee in 1995-1998; deputy secretary of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee and chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional government in 1998-present.

Member of 15th and 16th CPC Central Committees.
