Preparations for the China-EU Sustainable Business CEO Forum, a specialized forum of the seventh China (Beijing) International High-tech Expo (CHITEC), are progressing smoothly, according to CHITEC organizers.

The CEO forum will be held at the Beijing Kempinski Hotel on May 24.

Five industries as focus

The event, which will host presidents from top EU (European Union) and Chinese enterprises, aims to explore sustainable development strategy concepts, focusing on five hot industries, including petrochemical engineering, automobile, medicine, food and beverage and public affairs.

CEOs, presidents and senior representatives from leading EU enterprises, such as Degussa, Siemens, BP, DaimlerChrysler, Bayer, ABB and Aelio have confirmed their attendance.

The firms will introduce the most up-to-date concepts at the forum on enterprise environmental management mechanisms and advanced technologies, tapping into new areas for Sino-EU enterprise business cooperation.

"The Sino-European Environmental Management Cooperation Program (EMCP) is one the most important programmes sponsored by the Commission of the European Union in China on sustainable development," said Jennifer Coleman from the EMCP, one of the sponsors of the forum.

"The program, comprised of mechanism development, regional and urban development, industrial development, information management and promotion, aims to boost China-EU communications and business cooperation," she added

First EU forum in High-Tech Expo

This is the first time that the EU has organized such a large number of leading enterprises to participate in the CHITEC.

The forum will help forge closer ties between China and EU enterprises and help Chinese entrepreneurs learn more about promoting the concept of sustainability, said Coleman.

High-profile representatives from the World Bank, European Chamber of Commerce, China's Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Commerce will also present speeches at the forum.

Presidents from China's high-tech enterprises, such as Capitel Group, Hisense Group and the Beijing Double Crane Pharmaceutical Co Ltd, will also participate in the forum.

Various activities, such as thematic forums, specialized conferences and a CEO lunch reception, will also be featured to provide a direct exchange platform for China-EU entrepreneurs.
