Senior officials discuss cooperation of Circum-Bohai Ring

The high-profile Forum on Circum-Bohai Economic Ring Cooperation & Development kicked off from 14:30 to 17:30 May 21 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Governors of the five provinces (Shandong, Liaoning, Shanxi, Hebei and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region) and two municipalities (Beijing and Tianjin) of the Circum-Bohai Economic Zone, regional government officials, entrepreneur representatives, leaders from foreign chambers of commerce in China, foreign guests and domestic and foreign experts participated in the forum. About 200 journalists from top Chinese media outlets, such as China Central Television (CCTV), Beijing Television (BTV), Beijing Daily, Bejing Evening News and the Beijing Youth Daily, also focused on the forum.

The leader of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), secretary-general Long Yongtu of the Boao Forum for Asia, governor Ji Yunshi of Hebei Province, governor Zhang Baoshun of Shanxi Province, vice-mayor Yang Dongliang of Tianjin Municipality, vice-governor Wang Junmin of Shandong Province, vice-governor Teng Weiping of Liaoning Province and vice-mayor Zhang Mao of Beijing Municipality each gave a speech at the event.

The forum aims to discuss the cooperation and development around the Circum-Bohai Economic Belt, set up a platform for regional economic cooperation dialogues and exchanges, push forward the cooperation of interregional governments and enterprises, realize mutual benefits, complementary advantages and resource sharing, as well as step up the economic development of the circum-Bohai zone.

The contents of the forum include policies and suggestions on Circum-Bohai Economic Ring cooperation and development; ways to promote Circum-Bohai Economic Ring exchanges and cooperation; the investment space of Circum-Bohai Economic Ring for foreign capital and private enterprises; the role of Circum-Bohai Economic Ring in China's economic development; and drawing on lessons from foreign countries' development to promote China's regional economic developments.
