Reporting mission helps promote Xinjinag
Tens of reporters from some 37 websites in China had a get-together Sunday in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to promote the northwest China region. The activity, part of the promotion campaign in celebration of the 50 anniversary of the founding of the mostly Muslim region, was unveiled by a performance held on the Nanhu Square in Urumqi. Nuer Baikeli, vice secretary of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region committee of the Communist Party of China, welcomed the journalists from across the country at the performance. Xinjiang is rich in natural resources, tourism resources, and energy resources. He said he hoped the correspondents can play an important role in letting the outside world know more about the country’s largest autonomous region. The event aimed at displaying the great achievements that Xinjiang has made in the past 50 years, especially after the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, said Hou Hanmin, director of the information office under the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region government. |
