Two Arab satellite television channels said Friday that a Sudanese diplomat and five other men had been kidnapped in Iraq. A Sudanese Foreign Ministry spokesman appealed for their release in an interview with Qatar-based Al-Jazeera.

Al-Jazeera did not give details about when and where the six Sudanese were seized. The rival Al-Arabiya channel said they were abducted in Baghdad.

There was no immediate word on the abduction from the Sudanese Embassy in Baghdad.
