Flexibility and rapid adaptability are essential
T.P.Jackstraw  Updated: 2004-02-02 12:17

Social and cultural flexibility and rapid adaptability are essential, I think, to keep up with the pace of changes in the world, as the rate of change that is allowed by technology, is very rapid and far-reaching in its ability to affect everyone's lives.

As a product of our most modern times and from a highly advanced technological nation, with the available advantage of an enormous set of resources, Americans have had to learn to adjust rapidly to changes in their melting pot of peoples, and ideas from within an experimental system of government.

The American family unit is particularly disrupted, being a member of the majority has distinct disadvantages, as any connection to heredity and cultural origins loose their significance.

Major currents of thought are questioned and reexamined, just as alternatives are constantly being sought, be it in religion, commerce or Law. It appears chaotic, perhaps, no doubt because this is a very busy process.

For some of us, we know, we "can never go home again" and "the past is just a good-bye"; we don't have time to reminisce or to wallow in the pity of what simpler lives we lost, the courageous must forge ahead and keep our vision and hope for tomorrow.

We are all voyagers on this planet, we must take care of ourselves and our world.
