Do we need world police or world inspectors?
T.P.Jackstraw  Updated: 2004-04-24 10:12

I am not disappointed that my fellow Americans have rushed to defend our country. I am disappointed at the lack of a decent argument to support the American action. The same chiding and comparisons of one another's gadgets and shortcomings as justification for the same kind of non-creative knee-jerk responses and mistakes; a dismally childish circle game. Perhaps, a catalyst, like an adult needs to come in and break up this tit for tat, nonproductive, cyclic taunting and aggression.

To argue that things have always been this way, they will always be this way is no argument. Once most of the world pissed and defecated upstream into their drinking water, they had done this for thousands of years, why would they ever stop? Once they thought they would sail off the end of the flat earth, maybe this thought was older than the pharoes themselves. Change is imminent -- that is natural law! How it is changed is our prerogative, or not. You would dare surrender without a fight?

I note that meiguoracing said, "Just about every war has begun when an aggressor mistakenly believed they could win and/or the other side was weak or wouldn't fight back."
He then asked whether, " ... more countries would fight wars if they mistakenly thought an adversary were weaker or less willing to fight back?"

I suppose that aggressive leaders would expand their territories whenever they are given a reasonable chance. Do you have a solution? Do you deny that any can be found? Are we to accept that doomsday spirit that the Apocolypse is our certain destiny? Shall we just party 'til we die? Is there no hope? Is their no chance for a way? Maybe someone could have a thought that runs contrary to the clergy, dare you lock up your Galileos again?

The two postulated theories that are put forth by my fellow zealous defenders of our American Nation, in fact, have no foundation in cause, history nor in the cultural persona of the Chinese; the basis of their formulation is not from demonstrable observation, but, I think is in the desire to deflect the direction of self-examination they must ensue to listen to their hearts and dare to hear another way.

What of UN Inspectors, UN agreements, international treaties, agreements and international affairs? What do you think of the reports from the UN team of international inspectors, did they have more on the ball than Western intelligence agencies? Are you happy with the disclosures of Iran, what about Syria and Libya? What do you think NK really has and why do they say what they do? How well are international criminals deported for prosecution? Are things getting better over time?

Do we need world police or world inspectors? Is there any possibility of creating an institution to oversee international glasnost?

You know that corporate and industrial spying whether on a national or international scale are considered criminal acts, do these crimes carry penalties and convictions, if so, how are they enforced?

To the uncreative, to the nay sayers, the merciless and the hopeless, step aside! -- progress waits for no one!
