China to report its policy on telecom industry
[ 2005-02-23 13:39:25]

China's Ministry of Information Industry will report on the development of the country's telecom industry and policies at a conference next Monday.

An update on telecommmunication legislation, supervision of telecom fees and fixed-line connections in villages will be the key topics at the conference, said the ministry.

At the ministry's work meeting held in January, Minister Wang Xudong said his ministry will draft its policy on the third generation mobile technology. More detailed elaboration will be made on this during the upcoming conference, according to the ministry.

Conference participants will also have an in-depth discussion on strategic planning and measures meant to encourage telecom companies to go out into the international market.

Apart from officials with the Ministry of Information Industry, officials with major telecom companies in China would also attend the conference to report their companies' work in 2004 and plan for 2005.

The conference has been held annually since 2003.
