This is to inform you that the Greek Parliament voted 9th of July, 2015 the amendment of the Greek Immigration Code (hereinafter the “Code”).
This amendment of the Code incorporates improvements to the granting of Residence Permits of non-EU citizens who purchase a property in Greece, of a value of at least 250.000. The respective proposals have been thoroughly discussed with the General Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Affairs and they were adopted by the new Greek Government in the relevant Code amendment.
The major improvements are the following:
The Residence Permit that is granted to the aforementioned investors is officially named as “Permanent Investor’s Residence Permit”. As long as the purchaser remains the property owner, the Residence Permit is not revoked. The obligation for renewal (i.e. investigation of the ownership status) that was provided by the former legislation is not changed.

The family members that are entitled to be granted with a connected Residence Permit, because of the granting of a main Residence Permit of the property owner, remain the same (i.e. husband or wife and children aged up to 21 years old). Additionally, following the amendment of the Code, the parents of the property owner and his/her husband’s/wife’s parents are also entitled to apply for such a connected permanent Residence Permit.
