"There is no denying the damage was done with the estimated cost for the recovery in the billions.

She added: "As a British model, in my home town in London, I am honoured to be able to put on and be involved in this kind of show."

Model behaviour: Naomi says she's persuaded pal Kate Moss to design a few pieces for the show

She said: "We wanted to create something unique and special that would allow people to help directly."

She said she would like the fashion community to keep coming together to put on similar events if the need arose in the future.

Macpherson said of her reason for taking part: "My principle is that charity begins at home. This fits right into that category because home for me is the fashion industry and I live in London."

The Australian-born model added: "When there's an opportunity to help there's a lot of people that pass by doing things in their home ground."

Kidd said: "I was born and bred in the country and the flood was very close to me. I live very close to a flood plain. I've seen how devastating it is when rivers break their banks."

But she added: "Once it leaves the news, people tend to forget about it."

Le Bon said she had seen how members of her "own family" were also affected by the floods in Oxfordshire.

She added: "It's an ongoing issue and will be for some time."

All money raised will go to the Rotary Flood Disaster Appeal to assist communities in the affected districts.

Front row tickets for the exclusive event will cost £750.
