The First FPV Race China (FRC) kicked off in Wenjiang district in Chengdu, Sichuan province, on Dec 19, Xinhua reported.
Eighty pilots from all around the country took part in the race, demonstrating their ability to control flying drones.
Participants controlled their drones through different tasks such as flying at high speed or over obstacles.
“Controlling a drone requires good spatial orientation and fast reactions. That’s why this activity is quiet challenging,” said Chen Gang, president of the FRC organizing committee.
FPV, short for “First Person View”, means a video camera is mounted on the vehicle and broadcasts live video to the pilot on the ground, so the pilot is flying the aircraft as if he or she was onboard.
