South Korean super star becomes citizen of Mangshi

Jang Na Ra is one of the most popular pop stars in South Korea. She has become one of Korea’s most multi-talented stars, famous since 2004 as a brainy beauty in acting, hosting, and singing. Some of her TV shows are top-rated, aside from her four best-selling albums in Korea. In 2005, her album “Yi Zhang,” which means “one piece” in Chinese pinyin,, was her first time recording an entire album in Chinese, setting a precedent for all South Korean stars.

Mayor Sha officially awarded Jang a certificate of honorary citizenship at an award ceremony.. Jang took the certificate and repeatedly said “thanks” in Chinese. This was the first time she had ever come to Yunnan province. She has admired Yunnan for a long time, as her friends always told her Yunnan was one of the most beautiful places and essential destinations in China.

To her surprise, the first stop in Yunnan was Mangshi, where she was honored as a citizen. She smiled and said, “I have always knownn that Mangshi is a famous city of flowers and fruits, and a city of coffee. I love drinking coffee, and I am flattered to be an honorary citizen of Mangshi. After going back to South Korea, I will try my best to recommend beautiful Mangshi to the South Korean people, and draw more and more visitors to appreciate the beauty here.”

She also attended a New Year’s party that evening in Mangshi.
