A travel program from the Happy Chinese group on CCTV-4 paid a visit to Xiamen on 14th December with the aim of discovering the local scenic spots in the city and bringing them to the television screen.

Taking the form of melodrama, "Happy Chinese" aims to improve learners’ listening comprehension and speaking, and multi-dimensionally demonstrate real life in contemporary China and portray the unique charm of China today.

The program mainly teaches practical Chinese used in travel around China. Using the form of melodrama, it includes China’s most representative resorts and displays the beautiful mountains and rivers, outstanding persons and well-known places of China as well.

According to reports, the abundant tourism resources in Xiamen, including Xiaodeng fishing village, Gulongjiang Cultural Park, Xiamen Qingjiao Ciji Palace, Gulangyu Island, Wuyuan Bay, Nanputuo Temple and Yundang Lake, as well as the local cuisine, deeply impressed the program group. The filming activities by the famous program are expected to raise the prestige and reputation of Xiamen’s travel industry and attract more tourists by spreading Xiamen’s culture.
