Gansu getting its first high-speed railway line

The Lanzhou-Urumqi high-speed railway is expected to open by the end of this year, with speeds of 250 km/hr, allowing people to travel from Lanzhou, in Gansu province, to Xining, in Qinghai province, in one and a half hour, and to Urumqi, inXinjiang Uygur autonomous region, in 9 hours, and less than 5 hours from Lanzhou to the cities of Zhangye or Jiayuguan, in Gansu province.
The railway will have 39 stops, from Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province, via Gansu’s Zhangye, Jiuquan, and Jiayuguan, and Xining, the capital of Qinghai province, to Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region, for a total of 1,776 km.
