As many parts of China swelter in heat and humidity, mountainous Guizhou province offers visitors sweet relief with average temperatures of 23 C in July and August.

With layers of mountains and deep valleys spreading across it, Guizhou boasts of mild weather throughout the year, with winter temperatures dipping only four degrees and summers rarely exceeding 30C.

The provincial capital Guiyang was awarded the Best Summer Resort City for the third consecutive year on July 8 this year at the third China Summer Resort Tourism Summit. The cities of Liupanshui, Anshun and Bijie are also renowned cool cities in the country.

  • Huangguoshu Waterfall

    Huangguoshu Waterfall is Guizhou's most spectacular attraction. Located in Zhenning county, Anshun city.

  • Old Town of Qingyan, Huaxi

    The Old Town of Qingyan, built in Ming dynasty (AD 1378), is one of the best-known ancient cities in Guizhou.

  • Jiaxiu Tower

    The Jiaxiu Tower, quite similar to the giant'ao' (sea turtle), is on the Nanming River, in Guiyang. This traditional Chinese-style structure was built in 1597 during the Ming Dynasty.
